I suppose the answer is "people are curious," though good manners usually win out.
-Jemi: It's sort of the "What are they doing?" effect. Facebook showed me one of my 'memories' from three years ago, which happened to be when the tree first sprouted leaves. There has been growth! I've never actually seen anyone sitting at any of our local coffee shops writing. I have seen some at the library but that's different again. I think I'd be interested to glimpse at a fellow writer in action, but 2 would definitely make me curious enough to pay more attention!Jemi Fraserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02214408467456320167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8281000668036619727.post-82318349099163965742017-06-08T12:59:58.043-04:002017-06-08T12:59:58.043-04:00I've never written with another person - well,...I've never written with another person - well, not since I used to write comedy sketches in school - so I don't really know what it's like. But yeah, writing in public I've got no problem with, although I haven't done it that much. If someone was to lean over my shoulder, that's different, but why would they?Nick Wilfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03841776353790635132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8281000668036619727.post-90098889614078819632017-06-07T06:05:28.127-04:002017-06-07T06:05:28.127-04:00-Stacy: we avoided that last issue by deciding not...-Stacy: we avoided that last issue by deciding not to read out loud. There was a couple at a table across the aisle from us, i.e., about six feet away, and it would have been SUPER awkward--it's hard enough reading out loud when you've got something polished!

-Sheena-kay: Yeah, I prefer my own space. Or, in public, by myself. I didn't have any trouble with that, in fact, it was a great meeting (solved an issue I was having).

I think the problem with writing with a group in a public place, where you might read your work out loud, could be a problem, especially if you don't want to disturb the other customers. That would be my fear, anyway. Although I meet with writers at the Barnes & Noble coffee shop once a month. We don't don any writing there, just talk. And talk. And talk. Guess we're not so afraid of people overhearing us then. Haha!Stacy McKitrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07898731847653710759noreply@blogger.com
