Emma Watson delivers a speech to the UN.
Emma Watson delivers.
I don't have much to say about this right now--I don't have much to say about anything right now, my brain has been kind of fried lately--but Ms. Watson is right on target: this is an issue for all, and we all benefit from gender equality.
That's all for now, have a nice weekend.
I read a partial transcript of it, and I was impressed such a young girl expressed herself so well. I wish more women her age cared about gender equality as much as she does.
ReplyDeleteSuch a riveting speech. I watched all of it and I'm so glad she addressed the issue of feminism being associated with man hating. That is why I turned away from feminism. Sadly some of the definitions today would have me hating my father and brother and that makes zero sense. Emma handled herself splendidly and shows we should expect more from our young people not less. It shouldn't be shocking that she was able to give this fascinating speech. It should be gratifying.
ReplyDeleteLove her! She's a class act, that girl.
ReplyDeleteThat was so eloquent. I'm impressed!
ReplyDelete-Lexa--She carries herself very well, yet it was clear how nervous she was. I think that vulnerability makes her all the more appealing and real.
ReplyDelete-Sheena-kay--sadly, too many people equate feminism with man-hating and it's not that at all. And frankly, I also think the 'man-hating' label is a way many (men, mostly) try to diminish feminists. It's used to belittle and also as a red herring, an attempt to distract from what's really being discussed.
-Donna--she is, isn't she?
-Carrie--me, too!
